The leader of Islington Council wants “lively discussion” at a Question Time-style public meeting tomorrow.

Residents have the chance to quiz Cllr Richard Watts about the council’s forthcoming budget.

He said: “Islington is facing funding cuts from national government on an unprecedented scale. National government has cut the council’s funding in half since 2010.

“That’s half as much to spend on essential services like keeping our streets clean and caring for older people.

“This means much less money and tough choices on what local services we can provide.

“I want to hear directly from local residents about the issues that matter to our community, and look forward to another lively discussion.”

Tomorrow’s session is scheduled to run between 7pm-9pm at Central Library, Fieldway Crescent off Holloway Road.

People can turn up on the night to ask a question. Anyone who would like to submit one in advance, or cannot attend the event, can email For more information, visit
