A pop-up choir sang for hundreds of their neighbours in Caledonian Park.
The group, made up of residents of the nearby Parkside Estate, in Holloway, were given a standing ovation last month as they ended their set with the crowd calling for an encore of Bobby McFerrin’s song Don’t worry, be happy.
Nina Temple of Clock View Crescent, who came up with the idea for the choir, said: “As a new estate resident I wanted to get involved in my new community, and thought it would be fun to start a choir and sing with my neighbours.
“I was lucky to receive grants and support from the residents association and our landlords, Southern Housing Group.”
Parkside estate, formerly the Market estate, has hundreds of new residents and families who are now getting to know each other.
Youngest choir member, Caitlin Wallace, 19, a musical theatre student of Drovers Way, said: “Being able to sing with my neighbours and connect with the community was a wonderful way to spend the summer evenings.”
