The price of dying is going up, with a spot at an Islington graveyard costing an inheritance-busting £10,000 from next year.

New tariffs for different plots at St Pancras and Islington Cemetery, in Finchley, are detailed in a report to go before Islington Council’s ruling executive next Thursday.

Prices will increase by up to five per cent, with plots less expensive for the borough’s residents.

The cheapest adult grave is £290 for someone who lives in Islington.

Meanhwhile a woodland burial will be almost £2,000, a front lawn area is more than £5,000 and a mausoleum is almost £7,000, and a whopping £10,000 for non-residents.

It costs an extra £600 to be buried on a Saturday.
