Pavement is the latest high profile sale in Islington
A 560sq section of pavement close to a popular shopping and dining location has sold for £125,000 at a recent auction.
The pavement, formerly known as 32 Islington Green is situated close to Camden passage which boasts a number of boutique shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Owned by a private individual since 1968, the pavement was part of a portfolio that was auctioned off in Islington.
The future uses of the pavement are not yet known, with suggestions ranging from Saturday market stalls, pop up coffee shops or even re-establishing the former building subject to planning consent.
A spokesman for Savills’ auction said: “It’s certainly a bit unusual to have pavements go for that much, but it is Islington.”
The sale of the pavement follows another high profile sale of what was described as “the world’s smallest house” based in Barnsbury.
Advertised as a “one bedroom terraced house”, the property in Richmond Avenue had just 188sq ft of living space with the occupant required to climb on the kitchen workspace to get up to bed.
