Flynne, 15, having treatment for a brain tumour, spends evening in the royal box
An Islington teenager who is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour had the chance to meet Prince Harry and popstars at a charity concert for sick children.
Flynne Ewart-Biggs, 15, attended the Royal Albert Hall for a gala in aid of WellChild, a national charity that supports children with life-limiting conditions.
Lady Gaga and veteran crooner Tony Bennett performed songs from their new album Cheek to Cheek, helping to raise more than £100,000 for the charity.
Flynne has been having treatment for a brain tumour for 18 months and receives the support of WellChild.
After spending the evening in the royal box with the Prince and other children and their nurses, Flynne had the chance to speak with him.
She said: “It’s the first time I’ve met the Prince. It was fairly easy to talk to him to be honest because he led the conversation.
“He asked me if I liked Lady Gaga. He didn’t say if he was a fan but I’m sure he is.”
She revealed she had kept tight-lipped and not told her friends about her VIP date with the Prince at the concert.
Before the event she had said: “I don’t know if I’ll get up and dance in the royal box.”
Lady Gaga and Bennett were said to be happy to support a cause that is close to Prince Harry’s heart.
Gaga was reported as having said to the Prince: “We are so happy to be here tonight and be of any help.”
And when Prince Harry said it was a shame that such few children from the charity could be at the concert because it was in the evening, Gaga promised she would meet them another day.
WellChild chairman John Evans said of the Prince: “He’s incredibly impressive with the children.
“He’ll get down on their level. One of the things the parents appreciate is when the prince gets down on his knees to talk to their children.”
Bennett told the Prince: “Your mum [the late Diana, Princess of Wales] was a good friend of mine. I did many benefits with her.”
