More than 1,000 sweet-toothed residents queued around the block for a free cupcake at the Hummingbird Bakery in Islington which opened it’s doors for the first time this morning (Friday).
The fifth branch of the popular chain in St John Street offered free cupcakes to its first 1,000 visitors and a queue of more than 500 customers had already formed by the time the bakery started serving. They were kept smiling with trays of treats handed out by staff.
A team of eight Hummingbird Bakers were onsite at the Angel Building by Derwent London from 5am this morning, freshly baking and frosting the masses of cupcakes ready for the bakery’s first visitors. Baking and frosting continues.
