A record 300 people turned up to witness a traditional Jewish ceremony.
The Menorah Lighting took place in Islington Green to celebrate Chanukah on December 21.
Visitors enjoyed a latke tasting bar, doughnuts and hot cocoa, a clown, a yo-yo freestyler, a raffle for an Arsenal Stadium tour and an iPod touch.
Rabbi Mendy Korer, from Chabad-Lubavitch of Islington, who organised the day, said: “It was a lovely event. It was attended by [Islington Council leader] Cllr Richard Watts and Emily Thornberry [MP for Islington South and Finsbury] who both spoke and shared messages of peace and light. All in all, it was great day and a fantastic celebration.
“I’d like to thank everyone for joining in and making it so special.”
A Menorah is a nine-pronged candle, lit during the eight-day Jewish festival of Chanukah, to commemorate a miracle at the Holy Temple in Jerusalem when a single day’s worth of oil is said to have burned for eight days and nights.
