Secret Cinema warns of a storm coming
Those sneaky film fans behind the phenomenon that is Secret Cinema are hard at work putting the finishing touches to their latest extravaganza.
The clandestine film club has caused quite a stir in recent years with its immersive recreations of some of cinema’s great classics and cult flicks from The Third Man to Ghostbusters.
In case it hasn’t reached your radar, this is how it works: you sign up and are handed instructions of what to wear and which of London’s transport hubs to arrive at (it was Farringdon station for The Third Man, which took place in a Clerkenwell warehouse, transformed into post-war Vienna).
There you will be greeted by characters from the film who whisk you into its world before a screening a takes place. The last production in June saw almost 24,000 go to a secret screening of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus in a warehouse in Euston clad in boiler suits.
After being made to sign a non-disclosure agreement, we were told what the latest effort would be and it’s a film close to the Gazette’s heart. Although we’re not convinced they weren’t pulling the wool over our eyes.
Anyhow, to whet your appetite a little, we can reveal a snippet of the letter sent to those with tickets, addressed from the State of Oak Hampton Department of Services.
In it, Oak Hampton’s new Head of Justice, Norman Taylor, is quoted as vowing to “clamp down on serious crimes, discovering, through fair and diligent legal investigation, the intent of the perpetrator – punishing the thought as well as the crime.”

There’s also quite a few references to the weather and ominous warnings that a “storm is coming”.
So it’s probably a safe bet that it’s not Weird Science at any rate. More’s the pity.
