Dreams came true for a young Cystic Fibrosis sufferer whose wish to go to Lapland was granted this Christmas.

Miarose Greenhow, from Islington, got to ride snowmobiles, made snowmen, went sledging, met reindeer and put in her requests to Santa thanks to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The eight-year-old was diagnosed with the life-shortening condition Cystic Fibrosis shortly after she was born and it affects the major organs of her body, particularly her lungs. To keep healthy, she requires daily medication and physiotherapy and has to go in to hospital every 12 to 14 weeks for further treatment.

Ever since she was tiny, Miarose has wanted to go to Lapland so when she was referred to Starlight for a once-in-a-lifetime wish, the youngster knew immediately what to ask for. She was accompanied on the three day trip of a lifetime by her grandmother Tracey, who she lives with, step-dad Jim Crowder and step-sister Holly.

Tracey said: “Dreams can come true! Miarose was so happy, playing in the snow without a care in the world. Before we could have only dreamt of having a few special days to share between the four of us and Miarose said it was the best time she’s ever had in her life.”

It was Starlight’s sixth annual trip to the traditional Finnish resort of Luosto as part of their Christmas of Happiness Campaign which grants the wishes of sick and terminally ill children to bring some fun, entertainment and distraction to young patients during the festive season.
