Fire crews are investigating what caused a blaze at a St John Street student block this afternoon.

Six fire engines and 35 crew members were called to a fire at the Liberty block near the junction with Percival Street.

A small part of an electrical room in the basement was damaged by the fire. There are no reports of injuries.

The crews, including one from Upper Street fire station, had the fire under control just before 2pm.
