The Gazette hunts high and low each week to bring you news of the most interesting and unusual new businesses in Islington. This week we speak to a music teacher who’s taking a different approach.
A cellist is showing she has more strings to her bow by launching a social enterprise that aims to bring people together through music. Tara Franks has founded the SoundsCreative Ensemble to help young and old across Hackney and Islington get creative by playing music together.
She does it by putting professional musicians and artists alongside the students, aiming to create fun and playful environments.
Speaking to the Gazette, Tara said: “The whole enterprise is about connecting people through creative music experiences, using it as a tool to get people together.
Tara is hosting half-term sessions for children aged eight to 14 at Arts and Media School, Turle Road.
