A NOTORIOUS strip and lap dancing club has enraged neighbours with a bid to extend its opening hours until 1am.
Residents on the Bourne Estate, in Portpool Lane, Clerkenwell, are furious over plans by gentleman's club The Griffin to stay open for an extra hour of drinking, dancing and stripteases every night of the week - including Sundays.
Objections from occupants 13 flats on the estate and a firm of chartered surveyors have been lodged with Camden Council, under whose jurisdiction the licensing application falls. Resident Karen Frances has protested about the "sexual noises", "sexual language" and "shouting and chanting" coming from the club.
She said: "This has to be explained to my children, to people we are having phone calls with and causes public nuisance to residents. I do not want it going on even longer and later."
Wayne Chandler, The Griffin's licence holder, insists the venue operates a strict code of conduct for customers. The application will be heard by Camden Council on October 18.
