YOUR front page headline (Gazette January 13) “Student explosion” was not a surprise.
For some time now, many parts of Islington have been looking like Oxford and Cambridge. The streets seem to be swarming with students, colleges, universities everywhere – plus student accommodation being built everywhere. Seems to be no lack of funding there.
But affordable social housing being built in is very rare in Islington. The priorities in Islington seem to be very wrong.
The UK seems to be saturated with students. Therefore we should have all the clever people and skilled in abundance. But this is not the case.
We still have to go abroad for skilled people, so what courses are all these students doing? – W. Blundell, Lambfold House, York Way, Estate N7.
