Around 100 people turned out for a summer barbecue hosted by a charity which helps vulnerable families and adults in Islington.
Glorious sunshine bathed the event at Whittington Park, off Holloway Road, Archway, which was organised by Family Action, which supports more than 250 families in the borough as well as adults with mental health needs, and council leader Cllr Catherine West was in attendance to witness the work that the charity does first hand.
Islington project manager Elaine Sheppard said: “It was a great success. The sun came out and everybody enjoyed the chance to have a relaxing afternoon.
“The aim of the day was to give something nice to the families who are in need of our support, and everybody who came along agreed it was a great afternoon. It also provided some relief from all of the bad news we’ve had recently with the riots going on.”
