An Upper Holloway publican took “real pleasure” in being given his second real ale award in two years,

Steve Hall, who runs the Lansdeer Arms, was given the Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA) award on Tuesday evening for being the north London boozer of the season.

Pub landlord Steve also runs the Lady Mildmay, in Newington Green, where he was given the same award last year.

He told the Gazette: “It was really nice to win the award. I’m happy but it was unexpected.”

When asked what his winning secret it, Steve added: “I do look after my members and keep trying to stock local London ales in my bar.”

The Landseer opened in 2002. John Cryne, the chairman of CAMRA in north London, said: “The refurbishments last year really put it back on the map and it’s great to see it being used by by all ages. It is truly serving the community.”
