Exmouth Market came to a standstill this afternoon as thousands of mourners turned out for the funeral of teenager Henry Hicks.

A community paid tribute to the beloved grandson, son, brother and friend at the Holy Redeemer Church where Henry, who would have been 19 on Monday, was baptised and confirmed.

Hundreds had gathered outside the Hicks’ family home in Liverpool Road, Islington, before a procession of cars covered in flowers, including those in the shape of Henry’s trademark Louis Vuitton sunglasses, lined Exmouth Market, in Clerkwenwell.

Moving tributes at the funeral came from Father Paul Baggot who performed Henry’s baptism and confirmation ceremonies and from Henry’s older sister Claudia who read a heartfelt eulogy for her “beautiful baby brother”.

Family, mourners and well-wishers will go on to Golders Green Crematorium for a short service before celebrating Henry’s life at the Hanbury Arms, in Linton Street, Islington.
