A popular venue known for quirky events and booking bands before they hit fame turns five next month.

The Queen of Hoxton, in Curtain Road, has seen some of the UK’s brightest rising stars play across their three floors, including Caribou, Erol Alkan, Florence and The Machine, Waze and Odyssey and Jake Bugg.

During the summer, its famous roof terrace plays host to cocktail, barbecues and silent discos, while in the winter a giant wigwam is erected to house campfires and unusual events such as communal origami.

Their gala fifth birthday event on February 21 features Auntie Flo and Romare playing a special back-to- back three hour set of afro-inspired electronic music.
