Discover your dream first home with an exhibition of some of the best value properties London has to offer. See presentations from leading property experts on the different aspects of buying your first home and get tips from independent financial advisors and legal experts. Celebrity TV presenter Nicki Chapman will be interviewing first time buyers who have already bought their first home through shared ownership and through the new Help to Buy scheme.

2: Lab Rat, Little Angel Theatre, Dagmar Passage, N1, Sunday at 4pm and Monday at 8pm, tickets cost £5. See a puppet premier as part of Little Angel Theatre’s “firsts” festival of puppetry. Lab Rat, a mind-altering mix of puppetry and physical theatre, sees career lab rat Spencer Muridae’s world turned upside down when his wheel comes loose.

3: Colonising England: Tales of 1970s Immigrant Life, King’s Place, York Way, N1, Monday at 7pm, tickets £9.50. Hear seven spoken word artists deliver stories of immigrants in a time of huge social change in Britain. Salena Godden, Gabriel Gbadamosi, Burt Caesar, Harley Sylvester, Mikill Pane, Pete Fij and Terry Bickers will all take to the stage for a night of readings, performance poetry, live music and dramatic monologues about worlds colliding. Stories are told from the points of view of immigrants and those who grew up alongside them in communities across Britain.

4: Apprenticeships Open Evening, Islington Town Hall, Upper Street, N1, Tuesday from 6 to 8pm, free. Find out more about apprenticeships with Islington Council by speaking to different departments at the town hall to find out about the roles on offer, and speak to current apprentices about their experiences. Opportunities are available in areas such as finance, legal, business admin, housing repairs, IT, project management and more. The apprenticeships are open to those living in the borough who are unemployed and over 16.

5: SciBar: Artificial Intelligence, The Book Club, Leonard Street, EC2A, Wednesday at 7pm, free but booking essential. Delve into a mysterious world in which man’s ever accelerating technical advancement has created robots with a mind of their own. Dr Allan Tucker, a senior lecturer in computer science at Brunel University, will discuss ideas from a luxury age when robots do all of our work to scare stories where robots turn against their masters.
