A fallen tree has caused backlogs of traffic in Finsbury this morning.

Part of a tree snapped above a parked van and fell across Goswell Road, near its junction with Lever Street.

Hermon Kidane’s school run to St Paul and St Peter Primary School, just around the corner in Compton Street, was delayed and he said: “I was driving through and it blocked nearly all the road – some people were a bit panicked.

“One cyclist was trying to move it, but it was obviously a bit too heavy.”

Both Islington Council and London Fire Brigade said they are unaware of the incident.
