Police are appealing for information after two young children went missing in Islington last night.

Tiffarah Paul-Wright, two, and Aiale Paul-Wright, four, were last seen at around midnight “at an address in Islington”, the Met said.

A spokesman this morning said he could not be more specific about where in the borough this was.

Officers were last night made aware the children were at home alone. But when they visited, Tiffarah and Aiale weren’t there.

The Met is growing “increasingly concerned for their welfare”. It is urging anyone who has seen Tiffarah and Aiale, or who knows where they are, to immediately call 101 or 999, quoting reference 17MIS054702/04.

UPDATE: The Met announced at 12.30pm that the children have been found. At about 9.45pm last night, the children’s mother was taken to hospital for medical treatment. Police became aware she had two young children. Officers visited the home address but there was no trace of them. They believed the children were in the care of an adult, who was known to the children, and attempts were made to trace them. At midday, they were taken to a police station and are now being cared for by officers. No arrests have been made.
