Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been speaking after his side’s 5-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday lunchtime,

Was that your team’s best performance?

I don’t think in these terms. I am finding that we’re getting better every time. It depends in each match on how it’s playing out on the pitch. When we scored the first goal it was the moment we could play with more confidence in the pitch. The opposition maybe didn’t have the mentality to keep pushing. We worked very hard in the second half to impose this result [on the opposition]. We are happy but also calm, we know it’s difficult in each match. Today we are happy but we’re going to continue going about our process with humility.

How did you feel when the fans sang: “We’ve got our Arsenal back”?

We need to feel together with, the supporters and the players. This mentality is very important for us, to show each quality and together we can be happy like today. We need their support each match. The players on the pitch feel their support every time.

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s celebration – how much easier does that make things for you?

It’s a process, to know each other better after every training session, every match. We are imposing our timings, our ideas on the pitch. Today is the first day we more clearly played 4-4-2, with Danny [Welbeck] and Lacazette first and then Auba and Lacazette. When it’s Aaron like a No.10 but he can play near the attackers to make assists and score goals.

Lucas Torreira very good today, you eased him in but how impressed have you been?

He’s very young. This is his first experience at this level but he was playing in Italy at a very high level and against big teams with his national team. He’s doing very well. The first aspect is his humility, to work every day, to listen, to learn. He played today in the middle then right in the 4-4-2 and his performance was the same. His career is starting and we want to see his best performances and best levels.

Did you think nine wins in a row was possible?

Usually I don’t like to look back. Every match is different, every match is difficult. We are moving up the table little by little, giving us a better position for our objectives. We are focused on the next match against Leicester. I want the supporters to feel one special day each match in our stadium, to show we are improving with our quality, with our unity, our winning mentality and above all with commitment and hard work.

Do you think you can win the title?

We lost the first two games against Manchester City and Chelsea, we were calm. When we’re winning now we need to be the same way in our mentality: calm, hard-working, enjoying working, failing together, sharing a feeling with our supporters. We need to find our best performance in each match. We are improving.

What pleased you most today?

We spoke yesterday and today before the match. We played on Thursday and the travel is very long but we won like that. We want not to stop thinking of winning each match. The concentration is one thing we need every time when the training and matches arrive to push on. [I was pleased] not only with the first XI but with the substitutes. The players like Aubameyang, Aaron Ramsey and Matteo continued to help us with their quality.

Does the international break come at the wrong time?

Every international break is important also for the national team, for the players who want to join up with their team and defend their team, and for us to continue working with more calm. My mentality, my focus is Leicester. For us it’s time to continue working every day with more calm.

What time did you all get home from Baku?

*He won’t tell you but it’s 5am* Our players have their habits and are used to playing lots of matches. Friday we had off, Saturday in the morning the first conversation is about today’s match. We worked 24 hours very concentrated to win this match.

Ozil - back

Yesterday he came in with pain.

Are the rigours of the Europa League a worry?

Today they are repeating the match like Thursday, Monreal, Holding, Iwobi, Welbeck. They have the capacity to play lots of matches. Every player wants to play and they prepare for that.
