Singers from across the UK will flock to Islington next week for the final of the fourth annual University Gospel Choir of the Year competition.
It will take place at the Old Carlton Cinema in Essex Road on Saturday, April 5 and among the eight finalists is City University’s Veracity Gospel Choir.
Resident host and MOBO-award-winning singing powerhouse Rachel Kerr returns to compere the finals while judges Andrea Encinas, Mark De-Lisser and Stephanie and Ayo Oyerinde will act as mentors to the choirs.
Last year’s winners, Manchester Harmony Gospel Choir, return to defend their title at the awards, which have grown rapidly over the last few years, and resulted in a world record breaking mass choir attempt at Westfield Stratford.
