I AM appalled by a flagrant waste of our money taking place in major works programmes across Islington at the moment.
Contractors working on the Decent Homes Programme are not advising council tenants of their right to refuse to have a new kitchen or new bathroom or an electrical re-wire.
As a consequence, hundreds of thousands of pounds are being spent on "upgrades" some tenants don't want. Not only is it a terrible waste of money (for which we are all paying as taxpayers) but tenants are then faced with shoddy workmanship and costs to put something right that they didn't want in the first place! - Vicki Leonard, leaseholder, Haslam Close, N1.
