A man has been arrested after his van hit a pedestrian in Islington in the early hours of today, leaving her in a critical condition.
Officers were called to the incident at the junction of New North Road and Popham Road at 4.50am and stopped the white transit van at the scene.
London Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service both attended and the 43-year-old victim was taken to an east London hospital where she remains.
The driver of the van, a 35-year-old man, was in custody at a north London police station this morning on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit.
Officers from the Serious Collision Unit are investigating and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or the events leading up to it, to call them 0208 991 9555.
