ROGUE tree surgeons who are going door-to-door offering to prune plants could cost people hundreds of pounds in fines, the council has warned.
They have received reports of contractors cold-calling at houses in the Huddleston Road area, near Tufnell Park. Many Islington residents live in conservation areas, where trees are protected and owners must get special consent before any work can begin.
Any unauthorised work can lead to hefty charges for both the tree owner and the contractor. The council ask those in doubt to contact their tree service on 020 7527 2000.
