A WOMAN died last night after fire swept through a seventh-floor flat.

She was pronounced dead at the scene after firefighters wearing breathing apparatus had brought her out of the flat in Pollard Close, Holloway.

A man escaped the blaze before the brigade arrived and was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

Four engines and about 20 firefighters rushed to the scene after being called just before 10pm.

The cause is under investigation.
