Commuters are facing travel chaos this evening as the bus strike continues.
Routes across Islington have not escaped industrial action, with buses 30, 38, 56, 73 and 341 all running a reduced service. The strike comes after a drivers dispute over a £500 bonus for the extra passengers they will carry during the Olympics this summer.
Jonathan Parker, 32, of Finsbury Park, said: “Every time I’ve tried to get a bus today, it’s been an absolute nightmare and I’ve ended up using an alternative.
“I waited at the bus stop for ages this morning and ended up walking the route to work. I didn’t see one bus go past me, so I definitely think they should be avoided.”
The number of drivers not working today represents 85 per cent of the workforce, members of the union Unite.
Some Islington bus routes are running normally, including the 4, 19, 43, 153 and 274.
