With World Cup fever set to hit Islington’s streets, an unlikely team of heroes has stepped forward to ensure residents don’t miss the golden goals.
Resident plumbing experts have set up a crack team of engineers to help tackle ‘emergency toilet disasters’ as pubs and bladders fill up to watch the beautiful game.
Surprising research, commissioned by Dyno-Rod, found that the average sports fan will take up to two toilet breaks during a big tournament, with a whopping 42 per cent admitting to missing a golden sports moment thanks to a desperate trip to the loo.
Drain engineers Andy Stewart, John Laird, John Barratt and Colin Rowe have formed the borough’s own ‘Rush to Flush’ squad, set to tackle badly-timed ‘drainage problems’ as pubs hit capacity this summer.
A spokesman for the unlikely heroes said they would “keep toilets free from disaster” as fans rush to cubicles at half-time.
Chris Pizzala, Director of Dyno-Rod franchise CKP Limited said: “We here at Dyno predict the nation’s rush to flush could send our plumbing and drains systems in Islington into overdrive. That’s when our Rush to Flush Squad will be on hand to help local business and homes get back to watching the world’s biggest football event this summer, come on England!”
The borough is set to go World Cup crazy as the tournament kicks off in Brazil today.
