An eight-year-old girl who took the plunge for Sport Relief has raised £600.

Cindy Gholami swam 200 lengths in under two hours at an average speed of 37.5 seconds per length.

She was one of 100 swimmers to take part in the challenge Highbury Pool and Cally Pool, run by Aquaterra.

Swimming co-ordinator at Aquaterra Aquatics Academy, Simon Ibrahim, said: “To be able to raise that amount of money and maintain that speed at her age is an incredible achievement.”

Mr Ibrahim added: “Swimathon was fantastic this year. From families, to experienced swimmers and beginners, everyone had a great time and I would like to congratulate all those who participated for raising money for Sport Relief.”
