THE Arlington Association is most concerned by the reduced youth provision in the ward since the demolition of the youth club on the Packington Estate.

It appears that the youth club was demolished with no thought about where the young people would go.

We understand that the crypt at St John's Church, Duncan Terrace, has been able to accommodate some of the users of the demolished club for a few evenings, but many find themselves with nowhere to go

These young people have lost their youth club and some are facing the prospect in the near future of having their homes demolished and their school demolished. They need somewhere to go so that they are not tempted to roam the streets with time on their hands.

We feel very strongly that Islington Council and Hyde have a responsibility to make sure that at least an equivalent amount of temporary provision is made available to for these children and teenagers and that this accommodation should not be too far away from the original club. - Hazel Fletcher, Chairman, Arlington Association, N1.
