Betty's tribute

PUBLISHED: 16:30 06 October 2010 | UPDATED: 11:13 14 October 2010

I WOULD like to sincerely thank people for their condolences following the sad death of 'Betty' (Bridget Elizabeth) Knight following a long and courageous battle against multiple organ cancer.

I WOULD like to sincerely thank people for their condolences following the sad death of "Betty" (Bridget Elizabeth) Knight following a long and courageous battle against multiple organ cancer.

A permanent memorial will ensure that Betty remains in death, as in life, an inspiration to the people of Finsbury, and Islington as a whole.

The respect shown to the cortege as it took Betty up Chapel Market for the last time was most personally moving and, albeit with considerable melancholy, will be a lasting memory which I will also treasure.

- Thomas Cooper (in a personal capacity), periodic tenant of Islington Council/estate manager of Spa Green Estate.
