Can this increase be justified?

PUBLISHED: 12:55 06 January 2011

I have just received the new Islington Council parking charges and my car band has gone from £85 to £147 for 12 months parking. This is an increase of £62 or 73 per cent on the previous year. How can Islington Council justify nearly £150 for parking on a road?

I guess that car drivers are cash cows that are easily preyed upon by unsrupulous councils. Surely the people of Isington can start some direct action to stop this absurd increase? – Mark Ansell, via e-mail.
