Our story has a happy ending

PUBLISHED: 11:51 24 February 2011

WITH regard to your article “You Scrooges” (Gazette, December 9, 2010), on sheltered accommodation tenants’ problems with the repair services from Circle 33, we are happy to report that this has a happy ending.

The landlords have decided to relax their repair policy to the old and vulnerable people in the building.

We are writing to thank you for bringing this story to light in your newspaper and a huge thank you to Councillor Paul Smith for his support and intervening on our behalf and to Mr Jeff Baker, managing director of Circle 33 who graciously came to our meeting, listened to our concerns, acted on them and did the right thing by us.

It is nice to know that some people in authority still have a social conscience. – Ms. E. Shapiro on behalf of The Residents of Hawberry Lodge, N7.
