AS PATRON of children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent, I'm writing to urge your readers in London to join me in a two day national collection to help raise £200,000 for CLIC Sargent Tesco Charity of the Year 2010.
The collection will take place across Tesco stores in London on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 December and CLIC Sargent is looking for volunteer co-ordinators to give one day to help oversee it. As co-ordinators you will need to be ready to encourage friends and family to man the buckets with you on the day, galvanise them into action, count the money collected and then simply pay it in at your local bank.
The £200,000 you help to raise will contribute to the partnership's goal of £5million to help children with cancer spend more time at home and less time in hospital. It will fund CLIC Sargent Specialist Children's Cancer Nurses across the UK who will be able to coordinate all the care children need when they get home. Every day around 10 families are told their child has cancer and I have first-hand experience of the work that CLIC Sargent does to support these families. My cousin was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was 13 and is currently undergoing treatment 10 years on.
This collection is a fantastic way to get involved with a brilliant charity. With your help we can make the most of this amazing fundraising opportunity and I can guarantee there will be a lot of fun to be had. I will definitely be taking part in the collection at my local Tesco store!
