Winter fuel costs must be reduced

PUBLISHED: 12:54 06 January 2011

We have had the coldest spell in 100 years, not just in Islington but across the country. This weather brings major misery to folks who are not rich, to individuals who are trying to run their businesses etc.

I don’t understand why the Government does not renationalise the power companies – so that they could charge people cost price for their electric and gas and lift the entire country out of fuel poverty in one swoop.

This would be the greatest gift that any government could provide to the electorate.– M.G. McEligott, Amwell Street, EC1.
