Islington middleweight John ‘Rough’ Ryder will return to the ring next month for the first time since his failed British title bid against Nick Blackwell.
Ryder, who suffered only the second defeat in his 22 professional fights when he lost to Blackwell at the O2 Arena in May, is to feature on a Matchroom show at York Hall on Saturday October 10.
The 27-year-old southpaw’s opponent is yet to be named, but it is understood he will box in a six-round contest as he attempts to rebuild his career.
Ryder, who made his name as an amateur with Angel ABC, has also won and defended the WBO inter-continental belt during his five years in the paid ranks.
Tickets to see Ryder’s ring return can be obtained from Matchroom Boxing (01277 359900) or their official ticket outlet website, which can be accessed at StubHub.co.uk
