London Blitz quarterback Josh Adamson is relishing the opportunity to crown his first season at the club with a BritBowl title.

Adamson, who joined the Finsbury Park side from East Kent Mavericks at the start of the campaign, will be featuring in Saturday’s showpiece clash for the first time in his career.

Blitz are up against their arch-rivals London Warriors for the fifth consecutive season, aiming to take revenge for defeats in the two most recent BritBowl meetings between the sides.

“It would be an amazing honour [to win it],” said Adamson. “This is why we play and put all those hours in, for an opportunity to compete for the national title.

“It feels great to be involved – obviously it’s the main goal for any player in the UK. I’m looking forward to representing the Blitz along with my team-mates.”

Whoever triumphs this weekend at Saracens’ Allianz Park stadium will take the lead in the BritBowl saga – Blitz hoisted the trophy in 2011 and 2012 before losing the last two finals.

Having missed out on home-field advantage for the play-offs, Blitz had to make a familiar journey to Scotland in the semi-final, where their 19-7 victory over hosts East Kilbride Pirates secured their place in BritBowl XXIX.

The Warriors, meanwhile, held off Tamworth Phoenix to win 14-9 in a closely-contested home semi-final.

Saturday’s game will serve as a farewell to Blitz’s team manager Stewart Peisley and long-serving chairman Ed Morgan – who has been involved with the club since their first title success in 2007.

“It would be great to go out with a win in the BritBowl,” said Morgan. “I’ve gained a huge amount as a member of London Blitz and made some good mates.

“As chairman I’m very proud of the club we’ve built and the opportunities we’ve given to the next generation of young players.”
