Alfie Warren is to follow in the footsteps of his famous promoter uncle Frank Warren and cousins Francis and George with his own company, Box Office Promotions, which is hosting The Boston Brawl in Tufnell Park on Saturday.

The event at The Boston Arms on Junction Road follows on from a lifetime of involvement within boxing promotion, says Alfie, who hails from Islington.

“I’ve always wanted to be involved some way or another in the boxing industry,” he said. “The opportunity arose for me in November 2011 and we put on a boxing charity night in aid of a cancer charity.

“After the show, which was a sell-out, we had caught the boxing bug and decided we wanted to put on another show. It was such a great night and the atmosphere was buzzing and we just wanted to carry it on.”

Having had the benefit of absorbing the life of a promoter, the 25-year-old approaches Saturday’s show with a wealth of experience.

“I go to a lot of Frank’s, Francis’ and George’s shows on a regular basis,” Alfie continues. “I just observe the shows and learn that way, instead of asking them for advice.

“After the fights and during the intervals I will get up and speak to members of Frank’s team and get an understanding of how it all works and how a show is built up.

“Ahead of the big shows that Frank puts on I will go to the arena well before a show starts and see how it is all set up, and I have just learnt from observing the best down the years.”

Uncle Frank has looked after the likes of Nigel Benn, ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed, Joe Calzaghe, Ricky Hatton, Amir Khan and George Groves - and Alfie is aiming to emulate his achievements, beginning with unearthing a local star.

“We’ve got a show coming up on Saturday (February 23) at The Boston Arms in Tuffnel Park,” the young promoter added. “There are lots of talented boxers on our shows. Alfie Bartram is a local talent and he impressed everyone last time out, we’re looking to keep hold of him.

“We have another boxer from Hertfordshire called Scott Marshall who will be making his debut for Box Office Promotions at the weekend and we are glad to have him onboard.

“We always have something to do with charity at our shows, whether it’s a raffle or people with collection buckets. We had a show at the Troxy and did a raffle for the Ben Kinsella Trust and we managed to raise £2,500.”

Further nights are already in the planning stages at venues such as the Kentish Town Forum, The Troxy and The Boston Arms.
