Unbeaten Archway light-middleweight Tony Milch is firmly focused on winning his first professional title on Saturday – a week later than expected.

Milch was due to top the bill on a Hellraiser Promotions show at York Hall last weekend, facing Bulgaria’s Konstantin Alexandrov for the International Challenge belt.

But the show had to be cancelled when York Hall was closed by police following a murder outside the Bethnal Green venue less than 24 hours earlier.

Milch’s title fight – along with some of the other scheduled bouts – has now been transferred to a Dove Box Promotions show, to be held at the same venue on Saturday.

The 35-year-old, who has won all 10 of his professional contests to date, turned down an offer to postpone his title opportunity until the autumn as he wants to win a belt as soon as possible.

“I weighed in on the Friday and everything was good, but when I woke up the next morning I had loads of missed calls. Obviously I was upset to hear about what had taken place,” Milch told the Gazette.

“All credit to my manager, Mickey Helliet, for getting me another show on Saturday. I was asked ‘do you want to fight again in October?’ but for me that option wasn’t an option and I said no.

“It’s tough on your body because you’ve got to make the weight again, which isn’t easy – but so has my opponent and he’s got to fly back to London as well.

“I’ve been putting a lot of work into this, I want to be active and I had a warm-up fight in June which was geared towards going for the title in my next one.

“I’d rather go again – it doesn’t matter about the finance, let’s take the fight. I’m really looking forward to it and I want to bang on and get that title.”

Alexandrov, 27, has boxed several times in the UK but has yet to finish victorious outside his home country. He has a total of five wins from 22 outings to date.

Among the other rescheduled contests is the professional debut of former St Pancras ABC super-bantamweight and junior ABA finalist Danny Arnold.
