Islington’s Cumberland Netball Club has won England Netball’s outstanding club of the year award for London and the South East.

It was presented at the weekend after the club became Middlesex’s first to get the Gold CAPS mark, given to those offering excellent netball in their community.

Elzaan Eve received a grassroots official award for her commitment to umpiring, having recently qualified as a B award umpire and taken on the head of umpiring role.

“I’m so delighted to receive this award. I do everything for the love of netball and this would not have been possible without all the support from everyone at Cumberland,” she said.

Cumberland was named Middlesex County Club of the Year in June and new chair Jo Stevens, whose level three coaching was a factor for Gold CAPS, said: “I would never have got through it without my amazing mentor Dame Maggie Jackson, England Netball’s pilot mentoring scheme, plus the support of Cumberland NC.”
