Justyn Page-Allen picked up his first win in Islington BC colours as the club recorded a hat-trick of senior victories at Barry Island on Friday.
The show was staged by Colcott BC – who sent some of their boxers to Islington’s recent dinner show – and Page-Allen was joined by team-mates Scott Smart and Jeff Ofori for the return trip.
Page-Allen overwhelmed the home club’s John Viscount, dominating with fast combinations to the head and body and the Welsh boxer took two standing counts before the referee stopped the contest in the second round.
Smart, the newly-crowned national development champion, continued his good form this season by taking a unanimous decision against Colcott’s Andrew Perry.
The Islington man made a cautious start, but he moved up through the gears and unleashed a right hook that forced a standing count before repeating the trick in the final round.
Ofori was given a tougher examination in his rematch against Colcott’s Maredudd Thomas – who he had beaten on the Islington show – and did not find it easy to land many clean punches.
Although Ofori made most of the running, Thomas kept it close before the Islington captain stepped up the pace in the final round to clinch a split decision.
Islington youngster Caroline Dubois maintained her 100 per cent record with a seventh straight win against home fighter Jessie Stevens at the Turners Boxing Academy show in Camberley.
Dubois performed well from the start against an opponent seven months her senior, catching her with crisp two-handed attacks and forcing a standing count at the end of the second round.
Stevens battled gamely, but she could not match the Islington fighter’s superior boxing skills and it was no surprise when the hand of Dubois was raised for a unanimous decision.
