Camden youngsters proved their point by dominating the London Youth Games fencing finals at Redbridge Sports Centre.

The borough squad won gold medals in the junior and senior eventd to claim first place overall and a first Games title in nine years.

Camden’s previous best results were second place in artistic gymnasitcs (2012) and football (2009, 2011).

The senior team of Ben Stezacker, Jean-Baptiste Baigneres, Sam McKinley and Louis Decaudaveine beat Westminster (45-35) and Redbridge (45-31) in the group, Westminster again and Newham (45-31) in the knockouts and defending champions Ealing, who included two internationals, in the final as Stezacker won the last leg.

Juniors Charlotte Macey, Dario Stenbeck-Schiavo, David Sosnov and Lewis Appiagyei beat Kensington & Chelsea (45-35), Bexley (45-10), Wandsworth, Kensington & Chelsea again and Barnet, 45-25, in the final.
