Park Road side through to the final four, while the weekend also brought a Middlesex Premier Division triumph over Richmond

Skipper Tom Nicoll was delighted with the North Middlesex bowling display after progressing past Stanmore in the Middlesex KO Cup semi-finals.

North Midds advanced to the final four after beating Stanmore by five wickets, having successfully chased 151.

The Park Road club are now through to the semi-finals on August 20, when they will play divisional rivals Richmond.

But for now, Nicoll was happy to bask in the glory of North Midds’ quarter-final success against Stanmore

“It was a great win against Stanmore, especially with the way the bowlers performed as everyone chipped in with the ball,” he said.

“Stanmore had a good third wicket partnership, but once we were able to end that, they collapsed.

“It was a comfortable chase in the end and we now have a semi-final against Richmond to look forward to. The double is still on for us.”

With the semi-final to come against Richmond on August 20, North Midds will know what to expect having beaten them in the Middlesex Premier Division on Saturday.

After losing the toss, the hosts were put into the field at Park Road, but produced a stunning bowling performance to dismiss Richmond for 175.

Joel Hughes was tormentor-in-chief as he finished with figures of 6-41, while Adam Price (2-30) also impressed.

North Midds stuttered early on in their reply and were 83-6 when Price joined Charlie MacLeod at the crease.

The pair put on 65 for the third wicket before wicket-keeper MacLeod went for 30, while Price was dismissed soon after for a top score of 57.

The duo’s efforts took North Midds close to their target, with the hosts winning inside 45 overs, and Nicoll was happy with the display.

“Joel bowled exceptionally well and it was probably one of the best spells I’ve seen from him,” added Nicol.

“We had our typical slow start and lost a few early wickets, but Charlie and Adam batted well to get us close.

Next up for North Midds in the Premier Division is a to current leaders Ealing on Saturday.
