A thriller encounter occurred at Calthorpe between two clubs who won promotion from Middlesex County Division Three in 2018
Crouch End's perfect start to life in the Middlesex County Division Two came to an end last weekend at Brentham.
The two clubs won promotion in 2018 and they produced a typically dramatic contest on Saturday at Calthorpe.
Brentham won the toss and decided to bat first at Crouch End, but runs didn't flow like usual and scoring was slow.
Ryan Cunningham caught the eye with the ball, taking 1-22 from nine overs while Tom Scollay claimed 2-29.
Sejil Ramniclal picked up 2-33 as Brentham could only post 168-8 from 45 overs, but Crouch End failed to chase it down on home turf.
Pratik Patel (38) and Scollay (35) looked to give the hosts a chance when they were put on 67 for the fourth wicket.
However, when Aparajit Khurana dismissed them in quick succession, the Crouch End lower order couldn't keep up with the run rate.
Eventually Hiren Desai's team were all out for 159 with 10 balls remaining to lose by nine runs and now they will attempt to bounce back at Winchmore Hill this weekend.
