The Calthorpe club, who only come up this year, triumphed by 128 runs over Indian Gymkhana on Saturday

Crouch End recovered from a position of 73-5 to come back and thrash Indian Gymkhana by 128 runs in the Middlesex County League Division Three last weekend.

Hiren Desai’s team looked in trouble after winning the toss and batting first at Calthorpe on Saturday.

Once Jalpesh Vijay (22) and Nilesh Patel (31) were out, a rebuilding job was required and Poojan Vyas showed his class with an excellent 74.

Seetal Patel also hit 52 and Darshan Depala finished on 25 not out as Crouch End got up to 229-8 before declaring.

Indian Gymkhana had no answer in reply and were all out for 101 in the 27th over.

The visitors had actually made a good start to their chase and were 43-1 at one stage before Pratik Patel took over and run riot.

Crouch End’s vice-captain ended with figures of 7-55 off 14 overs as the home side only used three bowlers.

Next up for Desai’s team is a big clash on Saturday away to third in the table Acton, who are only 20 points behind second-placed Crouch End.
