Johan de Silva is happy with the numbers the Shepherd’s Cot club are getting, but wants more parents to bring their children along

Highgate Cricket Club’s Johan de Silva is pleased to report unprecedented All Stars Cricket numbers for the local side.

The Middlesex County League Premier Division club were keen to improve their colts section and have invested lots of hours into their ASC programme, which has attracted numerous kids to the area.

Highgate’s Schools Programme and ASC Lead de Silva said: “We have placed a considerable amount of time and effort into the ASC programme.

“This has been supported by Middlesex CCC. Whilst other clubs haven’t devoted countless time and resource to this project, Highgate see this as an immense growth opportunity and have spearheaded a junior section recruitment drive over the winter.”

Highgate’s efforts during the close season have been well received across the area, with numerous borough heads remarking positively on the efforts of their coaches in schools throughout the area.

But de Silva insists the club have not yet stopped welcoming kids in for the summer and revealed they may still have a programme in place for your children, so interested parents are urged to contact him on 07481622191 or highgatefixturessecretary@gmail.com.

Highgate’s ASC Lead is surprised so many kids haven’t had exposure to cricket and believes the impressive bar and catering facilities at the club make Highgate an inclusive, welcoming environment for parents and children alike.

The schools programme the Premier Division outfit run is an excellent way of connecting with the community and presents fantastic opportunities for developing local connections.

De Silva urged all parents to contact him, he added: “We are able to develop a solution for you and your child no matter what the circumstances, and encourage you to have a discussion with us no matter what your timings or financial situation may be.

“Highgate Cricket Club remain committed to providing cricket for all in the borough and look forward to hearing from you in due course.”
