Hiren Desai’s team are in great form despite Saturday’s wash-out at home to Osterley

Crouch End face a key clash in the battle for promotion to the top flight on Saturday.

Hiren Desai takes his side to old rivals Brentham to do battle with the second-placed team in the Middlesex County Division Two.

The Calthorpe club came up from Division Three with this weekend's opponents last season and the two have fared well in the second tier.

After 12 fixtures, Crouch End are top on 88 points and have a seven-point advantage over Brentham and a 20-point lead over Hornsey.

Yet last Saturday's wash-out at home to Osterley saw the Calthorpe club only pick up one point while third in the table Hornsey triumphed to close the gap.

Ahead of this weekend, Desai will hope his team can produce their best and take a big step towards a third consecutive promotion and the promise land of the Premier Division.

In the previous encounter on June 1, Crouch End were all out for 159 chasing 169 for the victory and another close encounter is expected this Saturday between the modern day foes.
