Captain Tyrone Willis-Alvez registered a brace as Islington & Camden Under-14s turned the tables on Haringey with a resounding 5-3 win – despite struggling to field a side.

Injuries and illness left the district with the minimum 11 players available at New River Sports Centre to take on the team that had beaten them 2-1 a week earlier.

It looked as if it might be a similar story when Islington & Camden fell behind to a stunning strike that zipped past Ashley Idhao, but a rocket from Nana Aggrey Adams levelled the scores.

Haringey regained the lead early in the second half, but Willis-Alvez smashed in the equaliser before Donville Monroe was fouled in the box and Amari Chimera converted the resulting penalty.

Monroe was sidelined for around 10 minutes to receive treatment, but he made a real impact when he returned to the field, evading three Haringey defenders to make it 4-2 with a superb solo effort.

The hosts hit back to halve the deficit, but Willis-Alvez made the game safe for Islington & Camden as he swept in their fifth goal, a stylish free-kick from the edge of the box.

I&C Under-13s came close to clinching a draw with a spirited fightback away to Brent – only to concede a late goal and lose out 4-3.

Brent, who had thrashed their opponents 7-0 earlier in the season, took an early lead from the rebound after a penalty struck the crossbar.

But they were pegged back within five minutes as Mark Stephenson timed his run from midfield perfectly to collect a through ball and fire into the top corner.

The home side regained the initiative with two goals before half-time, although I&C went close when debutant Nathan Tyshola hit the bar, while Stephenson was foiled by the goalkeeper.

Mohammed Khadrum drilled in a free-kick to make it 3-2 after the break and man of the match Ben Julian then set up Rafique Khaleel to get behind his marker and fire home the equaliser.

However, Islington & Camden were unable to hang on as the defence failed to clear five minutes from time and Brent snatched the winner.

Islington & Camden: Vogel (UCL), Bain, Khadrum (Hampstead), Rincon, O’Malley (St Aloysius), Tyshola, Barwuah, Khadri (Central Foundation), Julian, Smith (Holloway), Khaleel (William Ellis), Stephenson (IAMS).
