Islington Admiral United came out on top in their Islington Midweek League title showdown with rivals White City Wanderers.

But they were made to work for a 4-2 win, which dented the hopes of their opponents, as the first half was very even until the reigning champions grabbed two quick goals.

Alfie Francis kept up his recent goalscoring run with a poacher’s finish after Tyrone Husbands headed Andrew White’s corner goalwards.

And Francis then turned provider as his pass released Sam Donoghue to slot under the advancing keeper.

The game settled down after the break but on 70 minutes Donoghue’s pass found Andrew White who finished comfortably to make it 3-0.

Wanderers pulled two goals back in the next 10 minutes to set up an exciting finish but Admiral’s defence held firm and Liam Magwood set up White for Admiral’s fourth.
