Arsenal defender Rob Holding ruled out for season after rupturing anterior cruciate ligament

Arsenal defender Rob Holding has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee it has been revealed.

The 23-year-old former Bolton player will undergo surgery to repair the damage in the coming days.

The rehabilitation process is expected to take between six to nine months ruling him out of the rest of the season.

The highly-rated centre-half had been enjoyed a stellar season before ths injury during the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Wednesday.

Holding’s impressive performances had been integral to the 20 match unbeaten run Unai Emery’s Arsenal have been on this term.

An Arsenal spokesman said: ”Further to the injury sustained during our match at Manchester United on Wednesday night, we can confirm that Rob Holding has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee.

“Everyone at the club will now be working as hard as we can to ensure Rob is back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
